Fight Dirty Tar Sands Oil Barges in the Hudson River - 4/29 in Hudson NY

Small Towns Fight Big Oil on the Hudson
New Yorkers are resisting efforts to sextuple the number of anchorage grounds in the river and transform their backyard into a parking lot for oil barges.

...Hudson Valley residents will need to keep this pressure up to protect the waterway in their backyards, but this is not just a local fight. By blocking the expansion of the tar sands industry, they’re going to bat for all of us—from Alberta’s First Nations, whose lands have been poisoned by the open-pit mining of this toxic fuel, to upstate New York  residents breathing fumes from refineries next door, to the countries trying to curb carbon emissions instead of unleash them, and finally, to the odd whale that chases its dinner up a welcoming river".

Hudson Valley People's Climate - Sister March in Hudson NY

Please join us for the

Hudson Valley People's Climate Sister March Hudson NY.

On the same day that hundreds of thousands of people will descend on Washington DC to fight for the planet, Hudson NY will be the site of the
Hudson Valley People's Climate March & Rally.

The event is being organized by a coalition of individuals involved with local Indivisible, Resistance and Environmental groups in the Upper Hudson Valley and is being co-sponsored with Basilica Hudson which opens their 2017 Season with 24-HOUR DRONE: EXPERIMENTS IN SOUND AND MUSIC, their quintessentially Hudson music festival.

So if you can't make it to DC, what better place to rally and march for the planet, than the city named after the great Hudson River?

The Rally - 11am
The Hudson Valley People's Climate Sister March will begin with a rally in the Public Square (aka 7th Street Park) in the center of Hudson. The rally will feature speakers from a variety of environmental activists including those involved in environmental justice, open space, sustainable farming, clean water and more.

The March - 12 Noon
After the rally, the march will step off and head down historic Warren Street toward the river. We are encouraging people to bring signs and other visuals. The national march is encouraging people to produce signage and visuals that are circles to represent the planet and the circles of resistance that we see everywhere in the nation. DRONE-y sounds -- such as wordless voices, kazoos, recorders, flutes, portable keyboards, bag pipes -- are encouraged, as is thematic dress. Think Climate, think Planet, think cosmic DRONE! The march route will take Warren Street to the end, turn left on Front Street pass the train station and will end up at Basilica Hudson with their 24-HOUR DRONE festival will have just begun.

The Meet Up - 1pm
When marchers arrive at Basilica they are encouraged to meet under their huge solar array, located behind the Kite's Nest building, adjacent to the railroad tracks and the L&B building. The array will be stocked with information by representatives of local and regional environmental groups There will be a few speakers who will address the crowd and the event will finish with people having a chance to exchange ideas, meet their fellow activists and get more involved.

NOT READY TO HAVE IT END THERE? The DRONE Continues
24-HOUR DRONE will already be in progress having started at noon, and marchers are invited to do both!
March for the Planet then get your DRONE on.

Limited 24-HOUR DRONE tickets will be available at the door, or available for purchase in advance online HERE.

Nicole LoBue of Alimentary Kitchen will be serving a planet-healthy lunch for purchase on site.

Donald Trump is a threat to the future of our planet, the safety of our communities, and the health of our families.

The new administration has attacked the hard-won protections of our climate, health, and communities, and the rights of people of color, workers, indigenous people, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA, young people, and more.

We've fought back with a wave of protests larger than at almost any other point in history — let's make sure that we mark the 100th day of his presidency with another mass action that stands up for our communities.

So let's march and rally together for the Planet.

Join us on Saturday April 29th at 11am at Hudson NY's Public Square (aka 7th Street Park).
